SRAI-BEMS: An AI-powered Building Energy Management System integrated with the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) for optimal service selection.

SRIAI-BEMS has been selected under the SUSTAIN Open Call. The project introduces an innovative approach to Building Management Systems (BEMS). Existing solutions tend to be static and generic, making them unsuitable for today’s diverse building types and operational goals, as they lack customization capabilities and an effective evaluation framework. This leads to insufficient decision-making support for facility managers of commercial buildings, large companies, and residential building administrators.

srAI-BEMS revolutionizes the current BEMS landscape by offering an SRI-aware AI-enabled BEMS towards a truly customizable and dynamic energy management solution. By calculating and updating a building’s SRI score through the integration of AI-enabled services, the solution bridges the decision-making gap, providing actionable, building-specific insights that guide stakeholders in selecting the best-fit services and quantifying benefits in terms of SRI score gains. The system continuously adapts to the unique needs of individual buildings for optimized performance and improved energy efficiency, by extending existing BEMS approaches with an SRI aware AI-enabled solution for energy demand forecasting, HVAC optimization, energy-intensive task scheduling and appliance-level energy disaggregation.

The solution significantly enhances building energy performance, resulting in reduced energy costs, lowered carbon emissions, and a smaller environmental footprint, actively contributing to a low-carbon economy and aligning with EU’s green initiatives.
